—   KDDI adopts AMD EPYC CPUs to advance data centers in the era of AI —

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Apr. 23, 2025 — AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) and KDDI Corporation, under the new leadership of CEO Hiromichi Matsuda, today announced an agreement to leverage 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ CPUs for KDDI’s advanced 5G virtualized network. The adoption of AMD EPYC CPUs will enable KDDI to deliver impressive performance and highly efficient traffic processing capability for 5G virtualized network. Validation efforts will begin in 2025 and are planned to be rolled out to commercial networks in Japan in 2026.

Additionally, KDDI and AMD will undergo validation and testing efforts to further enhance KDDI 5G core networks. As technology partners, the two companies aim to contribute to the improvement of the KDDI customer experience and the development of energy efficient solutions to power 5G network and next-gen communication infrastructure in the era of AI.
