Possible Cause

The AMD Software Package version being installed may contain drivers that have not been digitally signed by the provider. Unsigned drivers are typically released as hotfixes by AMD, to provide urgent product support. Fully signed drivers will follow in the next release of AMD Software.

Solution

A workaround for error 99 is to temporarily disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows® before installing the AMD Software Package.

To disable Driver Signature Enforcement on Windows® 10 / Windows® 11, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Win + I and click on Update & Security / Windows Update (for Windows 11).
  2. Click on the Recovery option (for Windows 11 click Advanced Options first).
  3. Click on the "Restart now" button under Advanced startup.
  4. Once your computer has rebooted, choose the Troubleshoot option.
  5. Select Advanced options.
  6. Select Startup Settings and click Restart.
  7. From the list of startup options, press the F7 key to disable driver signature enforcement.

To disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows® 7, follow these steps:​

  1. Restart the computer and press the "F8" key repeatedly as the system is booting up to access the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  2. From the Advanced Options menu select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" and hit Enter.

If you are still unable to resolve error 99 after completing the steps outlined above and need further assistance, please contact AMD Customer Care, and attach the AMD Software Installer log file to your service request. The AMD Software Installer log file is located in C:\Program Files\AMD\CIM\Log\Installer.log​

IMPORTANT! Follow the steps below when raising a service request for this issue:

  2. Enter "Error 99" (without quotes) in the Subject field.
  3. Provide as much detail as possible about your issue in the Description field. 
  4. Attach the AMD Software Installer log file to the service request and click Submit.
