Product Description

The Multiport RAM (MPRAM) AMD LogiCORE™ IP provides simplified customer access to a memory primitive containing an array of eight very large RAMs, each of size 5 Mb. Each RAM has one write and one read port of 128-bit data. In addition, up to two write and two read 128-bit ports provide access to all eight RAMs allowing between one and eight RAMs to be accessed as a single memory.

Key Features and Benefits

The MPRAM IP provides flexible access to an array of eight RAMs with the following features:

Unit Access:
- Simple dual-port mode. Each RAM supports simultaneous write and read at 128-bit
- 40960 words of 128-bit data per RAM (5 Mb)
Global Access:
- Two global read and two global write ports with 128-bit access to all eight RAMs
- Total 8x40960 words of 128-bit (40 Mb)
User-defined Read Behaviors: Internally RAMs are accessed at twice the interface clock frequency. Interfaces operate on either memory cycle 0 or cycle 1. Read behavior can be defined by specifying that an interface operates on particular cycles as follows:
- Write-before-read:: Write occurs on memory cycle 0, and read on cycle 1
- Read-before-write:: Write occurs on cycle 1, and read on cycle 0
Combinations of Unit and Global Accesses: Global access can be combined with unit access (for example, global write with unit reads on multiple RAMs)
ECC Support: Single error correction, double error detection. Associated flags provided for each RAM
Memory Shutdown: The number of RAMs in use is configurable. Unused RAMs will be shutdown to save power
