Partnering with Suppliers to Uplift Worker Voice

In 2023, three Manufacturing Suppliers at four facilities in Malaysia and Taiwan offered migrant workers anonymous surveys to gain insight into the workers’ recruitment experience. The surveys were voluntary and available in the workers’ native languages. They provided new insights, including the number of labor agents that workers use and their level of satisfaction with those agents.

Supplier Training to Prevent Forced Labor

We believe we can have the most impact on addressing the systemic causes of forced and bonded labor by investing in capacity building with Manufacturing Suppliers. Since 2020, 95% of AMD suppliers in Malaysia, Taiwan, and Japan have completed the RBA Forced Labor Prevention workshop, enhancing their ability to identify, remediate, and prevent forced labor.

Industry Collaboration

We believe collective action drives greater impact than one company acting alone. For this reason, multi-stakeholder partnerships are an important aspect of managing our supply chain responsibly.

Respecting Human Rights

We respect human rights throughout our company and value chain, from raw minerals sourcing to end product use. This encompasses everything from how we design our products to how our supply chain partners manufacture and how our customers use our technology.

Footnotes
  1. "Manufacturing Suppliers” are defined as suppliers that AMD buys from directly and that provide direct materials and/or manufacturing services to AMD.
  2. AMD calculations are third-party verified (limited level assurance) based on data supplied by our Manufacturing Suppliers, which is not independently verified by AMD.
  3. AMD defines renewable energy as energy from a source that is not depleted when used, such as wind or solar power. AMD does not require a minimum amount of renewable energy to be sourced by Manufacturing Suppliers to be included in the goal. Data is provided by AMD suppliers and has not been independently verified by AMD.
  4. Capacity-building activities aim to bring a culture of continuous improvement to AMD Manufacturing Suppliers by providing resources to gain a deeper understanding of the root causes for non-compliance or by supporting the suppliers a beyond compliance goal. Goal calculations are based on AMD calculations that are third-party verified (limited level assurance). Although AMD achieved this goal in 2023, we will continue to engage additional suppliers in capacity-building activities through 2025 on topics such as setting GHG reduction targets, sourcing renewable energy, and ethical recruitment. Annual progress will be reported through 2025.
